1:30 PM - 4:30 PM Active adaptive suspension design for different vehicles

Johannes JH Paulides, CEO, AE-group
One of the most crucial factors that influence your day-to-day enjoyment from your car is the suspension system. Passive and semi-active suspensions have been tuning and refining suspension systems to achieve an elusive ideal: A perfectly comfortable drive with Formula-One handling. Car makers have not reached this goal yet, although that the latter systems are certainly a distance from the horse-drawn carriage suspension. However the competing goals of comfort and handling have not been reconciled until the fast active AE suspension system.
• Active Suspension adjusting capabilities to changing road conditions
• Adjustable controllers to improve comfort and handling
• System limitation of passive electromagnetic damping

Johannes JH Paulides

Achieving maximum safety and minimum fuel consumption are the two most important factors on OEMs minds. Design and architecture can go a long way in achieving a proper balance between them, but also more. How to achieve architecture adaptability and versatility, what are their implications on different models and what are these design considerations? This workshop will give a detailed insight into achieving higher vehicle comfort, handling and safety.
• Design considerations to achieve a greater fuel efficiency
• Redesigning suspensions for different chassis
• Incorporating adaptability in design
• Weight reduction opportunities
